Various ongenital
malformations of the kidney and the ureter are e.g. duplication of the upper
urinary tract. Duplication of the ureters is common but a supernumerary kidney
is uncommon. Incomplete division of the metanephric diverticulum results in
formations of bifid ureters and/or renal pelvis.
